Boston in the fall – it’s the stuff from which dreams and romance novels are made. This beautiful city is not only a visual spectacle but also the birthplace of freedom in the U.S.A. Unearth the legacies of legends like Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and Benjamin Franklin. On this nine-day tour, you’ll see all of the key Bostonian sights before heading out into the country to explore the gorgeous countryside of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. Drive through lush pine forests to the beautiful Bar Harbour. Explore the Acadia National Park. And take in all the splendour of the White Mountain National Forest. By the time you’re finished, you’ll be hoping spring never comes.
Itinerary
DAY 1 Stroll Through The Red Streets Of Boston
Boston, fondly called the ‘Cradle of Liberty’, was once home to notable figures such as Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and Benjamin Franklin. Spend the day soaking up its revolutionary heritage or enjoy a relaxed stroll along the scenic waterfront. In the evening, meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers over dinner – the perfect way to start your New England adventure.
DAY 2 Step Back in Time on Boston’s Freedom Trail
Start your morning by discovering Boston’s historic heart as you walk part of the famous Freedom Trail. Highlights include Boston Common, the Massachusetts State House, the 1660 Granary Burying Ground – resting place of some of America’s most prominent citizens – the Old State House, site of the Boston Massacre, and Faneuil Hall, known as America’s first Town Meeting Hall. Follow the red-brick path to uncover stories of the American Revolution. Continue to Lexington and Concord, where the first shots of the Revolutionary War rang out. Later, journey through scenic New England farmlands and storybook towns en route to Vermont.
DAY 3 Flavours of Vermont
Savour the taste of rural Vermont with a special Be My Guest farmhouse lunch at Green Mountain Girls Farm in Northfield. Learn about their sustainable and regenerative farming practices while enjoying fresh, local produce. In the afternoon, you may choose to take an optional cruise on Lake Champlain, surrounded by serene mountain views. Explore Burlington’s charming waterfront, boutique shops, cafés, and breweries before wandering the cobblestone lanes of Church Street Marketplace.
DAY 4 Stowe’s Storybook Charm and Vermont’s Autumn Colours
This morning, head to Stowe, a picture-perfect New England town famed for its autumn colours. Learn how the von Trapp family – of Sound of Music fame – made this their home after fleeing Austria. Indulge in a sweet treat at Lake Champlain Chocolates before taking the breathtaking Kancamagus Highway through the White Mountain National Forest. Known locally as “The Kanc”, this scenic byway offers spectacular views of fiery autumn foliage, perfect for your camera roll.
DAY 5 Nature and Wildlife in North Conway

In the afternoon, take a gentle guided hike to Diana’s Baths, a beautiful series of small waterfalls and pools set among forested trails – an idyllic spot to pause and connect with nature.
DAY 6 From the Mountains to the Coast
Travel from the White Mountains of New Hampshire into Maine’s rugged beauty. Your destination: Bar Harbour on Mount Desert Island. Here, join a Local Specialist to learn about the lobster fishing industry and local marine ecology. This evening, enjoy a traditional lobster dinner, complete with all the classic sides.
DAY 7 Acadia National Park
Spend the day immersed in the natural beauty of Acadia National Park. Visit Cadillac Mountain, the highest point along the Atlantic Seaboard and the first place in the U.S. to see the sunrise. Take in sweeping coastal vistas, pink granite cliffs, and maple forests glowing with autumn colours. In the afternoon, return to Bar Harbor for free time or opt for a nature cruise on Frenchman Bay. End the day with a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, meeting a Wabanaki storyteller who shares Indigenous music and oral traditions.
DAY 8 Coastal Maine and the Nubble Lighthouse
Journey south along Maine’s dramatic coastline, where rocky headlands meet the Atlantic. Stop at the iconic Nubble Lighthouse, dating back to 1879, before continuing past charming fishing villages and holiday retreats once favoured by U.S. presidents. In the evening, gather with your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner, sharing memories of your unforgettable New England journey.
DAY 9 Back To Boston And Beyond
Your New England adventure comes to an end as you transfer to Boston Logan International Airport or return to your Boston hotel to extend your stay.
